Willow’s Favorite Grilled Cheese

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 slices 1/2″ thick oatmeal bread
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 slices American cheese, thinly sliced
  • Ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    Place bread on a cutting board and spread mayonnaise over top side of each.
  2. 2.
    Heat a small non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  3. 3.
    Slide in 1/2 tbsp of butter. When it melts, place slices of bread, mayonnaise side down, in skillet; top with cheese; season with pepper.
  4. 4.
    Cook bread until golden brown (roughly 1-2 minutes). Close and flip sandwich; add remaining butter to skillet. Press down on sandwich to encourage even browning and to help melt cheese.
  5. 5.
    Cook until second side is golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve and eat immediately.
