INGREDIENTS
- 2 slices 1/2″ thick oatmeal bread
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 slices American cheese, thinly sliced
- Ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
- Place bread on a cutting board and spread mayonnaise over top side of each.
- Heat a small non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Slide in 1/2 tbsp of butter. When it melts, place slices of bread, mayonnaise side down, in skillet; top with cheese; season with pepper.
- Cook bread until golden brown (roughly 1-2 minutes). Close and flip sandwich; add remaining butter to skillet. Press down on sandwich to encourage even browning and to help melt cheese.
- Cook until second side is golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve and eat immediately.
