Tannenbaum Tree Cookies

This recipe requires a pan with a graduated set of 5 star shapes.

INGREDIENTS
  • 7 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • Sprinkles for topping
  • 1/4 cup powered sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. 2.
    Combine butter and sugar and beat until light. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Beat in lemon juice.
  3. 3.
    Combine flour, cinnamon, and salt. Sift into mixture and fold in. Beat until smooth.
  4. 4.
    Butter cookie molds generously.
  5. 5.
    Fill each star until just under top.
  6. 6.
    With wet finger, level out dough filling to points of stars.
  7. 7.
    Place on middle shelf of oven.
  8. 8.
    Bake 15-17 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  9. 9.
    Let cool on cookie sheets.
  10. 10.
    Repeat for number of desired trees.
  11. 11.
    Dust with powdered sugar and sprinkles.
Icing
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup unsifted powdered sugar
  • Pinch cream of tartar

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    Combine all ingredients.
  2. 2.
    Beat at low speed until well blended.
  3. 3.
    Beat medium to high speed 6-7 minutes, until thick.
  4. 4.
    Cover with plastic wrap.
