INGREDIENTS
- One 12-count package Hawaiian sweet rolls, sliced in half
- 1 large sweet onion, minced
- 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
- 3/4 pound cooked deli ham, thinly sliced
- 3/4 pound Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter, melted and 1 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
- 1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch pan with aluminum foil, spray with cooking spray; set aside.
- 2.Using a large serrated knife, slice the rolls in half so you have a ‘slab’ of tops and a ‘slab’ of bottoms; don’t pull the rolls apart and slice individually because you want to keep them connected.
- 3.Place the bottom ‘slab’ of rolls in prepared pan. Set aside.
- 4.Fry onions lightly in 2 tbsp butter, add mustard and spread mixture over rolls.
- 5.Evenly layer about half of the ham over the rolls.
- 6.Evenly layer all the cheese.
- 7.Evenly layer the remaining ham.
- 8.Add the top ‘slab’ of rolls, brush with 1 tbsp melted butter and sprinkle poppy seeds on tops; set aside.
- 9.Cover with aluminum foil and allow rolls to stand at room temp for about 5 to 10 minutes.
- 10.Bake covered for about 20 minutes or until cheese has melted.
- 11.Uncover and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until done as desired.
- 12.Slice into individual sliders and serve immediately. Sliders are best warm and fresh.
