Hamburg Stroganoff

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced and divided
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 4 cups white rice or 1 box egg noodles
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • Soy sauce to taste

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    In a small frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until golden brown. Add mushrooms and sweet onions. Saute for 1-2 minutes and remove from heat. Transfer mushrooms and onion to a bowl. Set aside.

    In same pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until golden brown. Add ground beef and cook for 2-3 minutes. Drain beef.
  3. 3.
    Using a deep sauce pan, mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, partially cooked hamburg, mushrooms and onions.
  4. 4.
    Cook low over medium heat stirring occasionally.
  5. 5.
    Add extra sour cream to reach desired consistency.
  6. 6.
    Serve over white rice or egg noodles. Sprinkle with scallions and add soy sauce to taste.
