INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup of sugar
- 1 tbsp of caraway seeds
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 egg
- 1 ¼ cup milk
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix the first 5 ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and caraway seeds.
- Cut butter into dry ingredients and blend. Lightly flour the raisins and add to dry ingredients.
- Beat together egg and milk. Addto the flour mixture (batter will be stiff).
- Put into greased loaf pan (9 5/8 x 5 ½ x 2 ¾ ) and sprinkle top with sugar.
- Cook bread for 1 hour. Remove bread from oven when done and let cool before removing from pan.
