Vinnie’s Slow-Smoke Babyback Pork Ribs

This recipe requires a slow smoker. Traeger Pro 22 smoker was used to cook this dish.

INGREDIENTS
  • 4-5 lbs babyback pork ribs
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tbsp mushroom seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tsp whiskey maple smoke rub

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    Rinse pork rib under cold water. Place ribs on a wire rack or in a large baking sheet. Pat dry on both sides with papertowels.

    Mix seasoning ingredients: onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, whiskey maple smoke rub. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly coating on both sides of pork ribs.
  3. 3.
    Brush ribs with olive oil on each side. Sprinkle seasoning rub all over both sides of pork ribs. Store ribs in refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.

    When ready to cook, set smoker to cook at 225 degrees F with hickory pellets. Preheat smoker for 15 minutes.

    Place pork ribs bone-side down and cook for 2 hours covered undisturbed.
  6. 6.
    After 2 hours, flip pork ribs meat-side down and cook with cover on for another 1 hour.
  7. 7.
    Optional: Glaze pork ribs with your favorite BBQ sauce or Hoisin sauce. Cut into individual ribs and serve.
