Easy Irish Bread

INGREDIENTS
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 1 tbsp of caraway seeds
  • 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ¼ cup milk

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. 2.
    Mix the first 5 ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and caraway seeds.
  3. 3.
    Cut butter into dry ingredients and blend. Lightly flour the raisins and add to dry ingredients.
  4. 4.
    Beat together egg and milk. Addto the flour mixture (batter will be stiff).
  5. 5.
    Put into greased loaf pan (9 5/8 x 5 ½ x 2 ¾ ) and sprinkle top with sugar.
  6. 6.
    Cook bread for 1 hour. Remove bread from oven when done and let cool before removing from pan.
