Baked French Breakfast Donuts

This recipe requires a mini donut maker/press. So many options can be used when making these donuts. Willow's favorite is adding Matcha powder to the dough and drizzling chocolate on top.

INGREDIENTS
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk (more if needed for moist batter)
  • Pam or alternate spray oil
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Additional toppings - powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, mini chocolate chips, jelly, crushed oreos, shredded coconut
  • Additional toppings - glazed (melted chocolate or powdered sugar/water blend) with jimmies or crushed oreos
  • Additional dough ideas - add cocoa power to dough for chocolate donuts and Matcha powder for Matcha donuts

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1.
    Preheat donut maker and spray with Pam.
  2. 2.
    Mix butter and sugar thoroughly. Add egg and mix well.
  3. 3.
    Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together.
  4. 4.
    Add dry ingredients alternating with milk.
  5. 5.
    Fill donut maker with donut batter and bake for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. 6.
    Once done, take out of pan and immediately dip tops into melted butter than toppings. Repeat.
  7. 7.
    Optional: replace the butter for dipping with powdered sugar and water for a glazed topping.
